"Look Is Similar to Wilton Wool, But Price is Same As Rayon Loop
Pile"
As discussed elsewhere in this publication, Wilton wool carpet was originally used by Triumph
on TR2, TR3, and early TR3A models before a change was made to rayon loop, probably as a cost
saving measure. Rayon loop was then used on later TR3A, TR3B, and TR4 models before Triumph
went back to Wilton wool for the TR4A, and later for the TR250 and early TR6 models. In 1973,
again probably for cost purposes, Triumph used a tufted nylon carpet material for the later TR6
models. Triumph chose this material as it had a look similar to that of Wilton wool but at a lower
price. We feel that these same factors may appeal to current enthusiasts of Triumph TR2, TR3, and
TR4 models. It has been several years since we began offering tufted nylon as an alternative to
Wilton wool, and we have sold quite a number of sets in that material to satisfied customers. It is a
much nicer material that the high pile domestic nylon material offered by other companies.
Note that all carpet sets listed below are detailed exactly as corresponding Wilton wool or rayon
loop pile carpet sets, including every stitch, rubber patch, fibreboard backing, etc. Same high quality
at a lower price.
