UPDATED SEAT REBUILDING FOR MGB, MGB-GT, 1970-80 MODELS
"Kits in Alternative Styles to Replace Basket-weave or Cloth Faced Seats..."
Components listed in the following sections will allow you to rebuild any seat fitted to an MGB or
MGB-GT that was built between 1970 and 1980. Kits are available in British vinyl or leather. All kits
feature vertical pleats with no embossing. These are offered to us by our supplier in England as an alternative
in cases where the original type basket-weave material is no longer available. basket-weave material must be
purchased in large amounts and the suppliers are no longer able to justify the expense of stocking materials
for long periods of time. At this time, seats with basket-weave vinyl faces are only available in black.
In addition, the seats listed here may appeal to customers who prefer vinyl or leather seats instead of
basket-weave or cloth faced seats.
Two different style of seats were fitted but the reupholstery kits can be fitted to other years as long as the
correct corresponding foams are used. The early seats, fitted 1970-72, had a hump shape to the front of the
seat cushion where seats fitted from 1973 on were flat. In the second series of seats, different head rests were
used after 1976. We will list the components according to year and model of car but you can fit them to any
seat frame between 1970 and 1980 if you wish.
