Please Note:
The gear set used in the range of gearboxes
covered by this section may be identified by the following
characteristics. See Section CM for a full discussion of these
characteristics.
1.
Input gear utilizes slide-in needle bearing.
2.
First-speed countershaft gear has sixteen teeth.
3.
All mainshaft gears have the later symmetrical
dog teeth.
4.
Bushes inside first, second, and third gears are
bronze rather than steel; oil holes in gears do not
line up with grooves in bushes.
5.
Both synchronizer sleeves will have grooves which
are enlarged at each end to accommodate the larger
dog teeth on the mainshaft gears.
6.
All gears have the earlier tooth profile on their meshing
teeth.
