CARBURETTOR IDENTIFICATION CHECKLIST
· Metal tags attached to top cover screws should read
C3771LH
or
C3771RH
.
· Damper caps are white plastic on this carb model rather
than black as on previous models.
· Locate slanted pipes for attaching breather hoses on
front sides of both carbs in close to manifold.
· Locate horizontal breather attachment pipes on rear sides
of both carbs close to air cleaner faces.
· Locate vacuum fitting (copper pipe) on underside of front
carb near center of mounting flange.
· Locate screw-in vacuum fitting on upper side of rear carb
near center of mounting flange.
· Bypass valves are adjustable as indicated by small
adjusting screws in centers.
· Bypass valves should not have vacuum fittings or, if
present, they should be blanked off.
· Identification characters stamped on air cleaner faces are
normally
BT224
and
BT225
.
· Check cold start valve; cams will be stamped
SRZ
, and
bodies should be marked
B4

· Although carbs can be identified without reference to
identification tags, keeping the tags in place is the surest
approach.
