CARBURETTOR IDENTIFICATION CHECKLIST
· Metal tags attached to top cover screws should
read
C3337LH
and
C3337RH
.
· Locate slanted pipes for attaching breather hoses
on front sides of both carbs in close to manifold;
these are the only breather hose connections.
· Locate fitting for installing suction pipe underneath
rear carb on mounting flange.
· There will be no vacuum fitting on top of inner mounting
flange; if you find a threaded hole in that position, it will
not be drilled through into the throttle passage, and you can
plug it or leave it unplugged as you wish.
· There are no vacuum fittings on tops of bypass valves.
· Our experience is that bypass valves are not adjustable,
although the Zenith Stromberg parts breakdown lists the
same part number as for the 1973 carbs which is adjustable.
· Identification characters stamped on air cleaner faces should
be
089TA
and
065TA
; sometimes the suffix letter is
B
rather
than
A
.
· Vent hole in air cleaner face does not have an inset brass bush.
· These carbs do not include a vent lever operating in conjunction
with throttle lever.
· Check cold start valves; cams will be stamped
SRZ
,
and bodies will be marked
AB
.
· Identifying individual model 175CD-2SE carbs can be tricky,
and the surest way is to retain the metal identification tags.
