CARBURETTOR IDENTIFICATION CHECKLIST
· Metal tags attached to top cover screws should read
C3292LH, C3365LH, C3292RH,
or
C3365RH
.
· Metering needle is adjustable if hex-shaped holes to
accept Allen-key adjustment wrench are visible
down center of guide rod after dampers have
been removed.
· Locate slanted pipes for attaching breather hoses on
front sides of both carbs in close to manifold; these
are the only breather connections.
· Locate fitting for installing suction pipe to distributor
vacuum retard unit underneath rear carb on
mounting flange.
· You should find a vacuum fitting on the upper side of
the front carb on the mounting flange; this is for the
suction pipe to the distributor vacuum advance unit; the
corresponding hole in the rear carb is not drilled
through to the throttle passage and may be plugged or
left open.
· Bypass valves are identified by the letter
K
stamped onto
the upper flanges; they are not adjustable; and they have no
vacuum fittings.
· Identification characters stamped onto air cleaner faces
should be
054
and
065
with the letters
T
and
A
or
B
as
prefixes or suffixes in various combinations.
· Vent hole in air cleaner face does not have an inset brass bush.
These carbs will not have a vent lever acting in conjunction
with the throttle lever.
· Check cold start valves; cams will be stamped
SRZ
,
and bodies will be marked
AB
.
· Plugs in bottoms of float chambers will be flat with single
screw driver slots.
· Identifying individual model 175CD-2SE carbs can be tricky,
and the surest method is to retain the metal identification tags.
