INTRODUCTORY NOTE:
This section has the stated purpose of giving the user an overview of all of the Zenith
Stromberg 175CD carburettors fitted to the TR6 model during the years of production. Zenith
Stromberg model numbers and part numbers are also included to help the user in
carburettor identification and in utilization of information found in workshop manuals and
other publications. The illustration for this section shows the various components of a typical
carburettor and designates the locations of various identifying markings. The listings in this
section adhere, largely, to those found in the Triumph factory spare parts catalogues for the
TR6 model, although it does appear that mixed sets of 175CD-2SE carbs may have been
fitted to some cars, even some ranges of cars, in the model years before 1972. It also
appears that there may also have been a good deal of overlap of engine numbers to which
respective carb numbers may have been fitted during this period. The important thing is to
identify each of your carbs before ordering parts, which can be rather difficult if the brass
identification tags have been lost, although the numbers were often stamped on the
undersides of the mounting flanges of model 175CD-2SE carbs. To facilitate carb
identification, checklists are included at the beginnings of the six individual carb sections
which follow.
