The stub axle kits listed here work well to solve a common braking problem.
Stock stub axles are a bit flimsy and they flex, causing brake discs to wobble, reducing
braking efficiency, particularly on rough surfaces. This will cause caliper pistons to be
pushed back too far into the caliper, requiring additional fluid to come back out. The
result will be the pedal going to the floor on the first pump. A second pump slows the
car. BMC cars used a spacer between the wheel bearings to support the stub axle and to
reduce the flexing, thus improving braking and handling, but Triumph didn't seem to
realize there was a problem. Fitting a spacer, particularly along with a beefier stub axle,
will solve this problem.
