The Roadster Factory Lists original-equipment Lucas starters and modern "gear
reduction" starter replacements. Concours enthusiasts may wish to use original Lucas
starters or even to have old starter motors rebuilt if they are original to the car. For
others, the gear reduction starter offers more cranking power and much reduced weight.
As the gear reduction starters have integral solenoids, some wiring modifications will
be necessary.
