FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERING
STEERING BOX REBUILDING, TR2, TR3
Early steering boxes had long steering columns, solid all the way to the steering
wheel. Later ones were split halfway, possibly allowing the steering box to be removed
without removing the front apron. Internals of both boxes are quite identical as far as
repairs and rebuilding are concerned. New steering columns are not available, but the
cam, aka "worm gear" is available. Removing the old cam and installing the new one
is not an easy job, and it requires heat, as the end of the column is mushroomed to
prevent the cam coming loose.
