Embossed anodized
aluminium sill plates were
added by the factory to MGB's
around 1970 and continued until
the end of production. Shinier
stainless steel sill plates with MG logos are an aftermarket accessory that was
invented long after the original cars were out of production. Choosing the
original plates will give you more points in concours judging, but either design
adds a finished appearance to a restored car avoiding the nicks and scratches
which always occur on painted surfaces. Either type may be retrofitted to
earlier MGB models...
