RUBBER GROMMETS AND BLANKING PLUGS
Researching grommets and plugs for this catalogue has been challenging
work, and the results are less than satisfying for this writer. I am providing the
best listings that I can from using the factory catalogues and from studying
several cars. It appears that factory engineers did not attempt to standardize
holes so that a few plugs and grommets would fit all applications. Instead, the
list of sizes and types of grommets and plugs is long and complicated. To
further confuse the issue, the part numbers, sizes, shapes, and even materials of
specific grommets and plugs changed during the years of production. As time
goes on, I will tear down and rebuild a car or two, keeping track of every part
used, and I will provide more definitive listings. If any customer or club has
already done this work, I would be excited to see what you have done, and if I
might use it to refine my own listings, you will receive full credit for your
research in a future edition of this catalogue...
