LUCAS ROCKER SWITCHES, TR250, TR6,
SPITFIRE, GT6
“Reliable Lucas Switches Still Available—All Three Now in
Stock...”
Beloved rocker switches were made originally by Clear Hooters, which also
manufactured horns (hooters).  Some of these switches were recalled, and Lucas
switches fitted instead.  None of the Clear Hooters switches is available today, but
the Lucas switches listed here are generally in stock.  Note that the wiper and
washer switches have a "chromed" plastic edge, but the chrome can easily be
polished off with metal polish and you will find a black bezel underneath.  The
markings on some switches are different from what you may have now, but these
are new switches that work like new switches.

P.S.  Note that if you are replacing a Clear Hooters switch with a Lucas switch, you
will probably have to file the rectangular slot in the dash backing to take a bigger
switch.  However, the outer bezel is the same size, and you will not have to modify
the wood dash panel.
REPLACEMENT RUBBER SEALS—GAUGES TO
DASH PANEL, TR2, TR3, TR4, TR4A, TR250,
TR6, SPITFIRE, GT6, MGB
If you do a wood dash replacement on a TR4A, TR250, or TR6, or if you are
involved in a complete frame-up restoration of any car, you will probably want to
replace the rubber seals or gaskets between the gauges and the dash.  These have
generally lost their elasticity, hardened, or even broken over the years.  We have
recently evaluated the parts we offer, and we have updated them in several ways as
well as trying them out in various applications.
I just went to pull a speedometer from TRF archives to use in illustrating these
gaskets, and when I took the gauge out of the box, I found the gasket hardened and
broken into a little pile of pieces in the box.  I don't think our new seals would do
this even over thirty or forty years, the length of time that speedo was in its box.
