SEAT SPRING KITS AS ORIGINAL, TR2, TR3, TR4
“The Products Available Elsewhere Will Ruin the Comfort of Your
Seats”
The project to make the seat springs has finally came to completion after many
years of work.  Years ago, TRF sold the same seat springs as other companies
because they were the only thing available.  Unfortunately they sucked.  They are
designed and made like mattress springs, and you sit up on the springs and boing
around with the movement of the car rather than sitting in the seat as it was
designed.
Figuring out how to make the spring units was the hardest project I have ever
undertaken.  That is why other companies sell mattress springs instead of the right
thing.  It took me months to understand how it should be done.  I know that makes
me sound stupid, but we had sent samples off to many manufacturers who couldn't
do the job.  I learned how the spring units were made, and I had the components
manufactured.  Then, I couldn't find anyone to assemble them.  The manager of the
sheltered workshop in Indiana County couldn't understand.  Finally, TRF's friend,
Randy Phillippi volunteered to do the job.  I showed him how, but he had an
intuitive understanding of how the springs fit together.  Now, he can do it much
faster than I ever could.
TR3A, TR3B seat spring units were the first to be produced, followed a year or
two later by the TR2, TR3 seat spring unit.  Then we were able to find a good
sample of an early TR4 spring unit.  Using this as a pattern, we had the parts
manufactured, and the TR4 spring unit joined the others as available parts.  All three
seat spring units are now generally in stock, and any backorders which may occur
will be filled very quickly, since these parts are now assembled right here in Indiana
County, Pennsylvania.
