DIFFERENTIAL MOUNTINGS—CHASSIS FRAME
REPAIRS, TR4A, TR250, TR6
When you are changing your diff mounts, you may encounter some chassis frame
damage.  Generally, this is confined to brackets which support the mounting bolts on the
crossmember closest to the front of the car, often just on the right-hand side.  If you are
making a repair, however, it makes sense to do both sides.  Listed here are parts you
will need to replace and reinforce the front mountings...place and reinforce the front
mounting brackets.

SPRING COMPRESSOR TOOLS FOR
FRONT SUSPENSION WORK, TR2,
TR3, TR4, TR4A, TR250, TR6
“TRF Has Developed an Excellent Tool Which Is
Both Safe and Easy to Use”
Actually, it was two friends who developed the original
tool, Bill Lynn and Bill Colaric of the Chicago area.  Bill and
Bill ran a small parts sourcing company named Canley Spares
for a few years.  We had a lot of fun working with them...
TRF's tool consists of aluminium adaptor plates which fit
on the studs located on the bottom of the lower spring pan and a
high-quality threaded rod which bolts in place of the shock
absorber which you have just removed.  You tighten up the nut
on the threaded rod, compressing the spring.  After the spring
has been compressed, you remove the hardware which secures
the spring pan to the underside of the wishbones.  Then you let
the spring back down, and all of the parts come out between the
lower wishbones.  Various safety devices are worked into the
spring compressor to keep everything safe.  The quality is to
bridgebuilder standards...
